  • We reiterate our consolidation view on Nifty and suggest focusing more on stock selection and position management. The buoyancy in banking space is largely helping the benchmark to hold at the higher levels while others are witnessing mixed trend. In present scenario, we advise maintaining a balanced approach on stock-specific front, by adding few short positions, said Ajit Mishra Vice President, Research, Religare Broking.

    For the week gone by, Nifty posted a negative close with a Doji formation on the weekly chart, which suggests indecision in the minds of the market participants. The daily chart shows that the price activity over the last few sessions is unfolding as a complex correction as per the Elliott Wave Theory. So the Nifty is still in minor degree correction phase & can slide towards 11,700-11,600 in the next week. On the other hand, 12,000-12,034 will continue to act as a key resistance zone.

  • Rupee Update: The Indian rupee has erased most of its intraday gains and trading off day’s high level at 71.83 per dollar.

  • This week the macro data points did not cheer the markets raising some concerns on the growth outlook of the economy. The CPI print came at 4.62% rising close to 60 bps sequentially. The print was higher than the RBI target of 4% which led to some nervousness on the inflation outlook. However the higher inflation was mainly account of rising food inflation and some rise was expected on account of disturbance caused by monsoons. This may push the brakes on the rate cut cycle by RBI which was witnessed in the previous MPC meetings. Also the IIP contracted sharply by 4.3% YoY in September indicating to a slowdown in economy, said Vijay Kuppa, Co –Founder, Orowealth.

  • Market Close: The last hour selling wiped out most of intraday gains of the benchmark indices on November 15 with Nifty managed to close near 11,900 level.

    At close, the Sensex was up 70.21 points at 40,356.69, while Nifty was up 23.20 points at 11,895.30.

    Bharti Infratel, Bharti Airtel, SBI, Zee Entertainment and Grasim Industries were among major gainers on the Nifty, while losers were IOC, Hero MotoCorp, BPCL, Maruti Suzuki and ITC.

    Among sectors, selling was seen in the auto, energy, IT and metal, while buying witnessed in the bank, pharma and infra sectors.

  • L&T Finance Holdings gains 2%: Shares of L&T Finance Holdings gained 2.6 percent on November 15 on the intimation of stake sale in capital markets subsidiary.

  • Important trade issues between India, US resolved and may sign initial trade package, quoting PTI, reported CNBC-TV18.

  • Anand Rathi has maintained buy rating on Dilip Buildcon on proven execution capabilities and comforting valuations. 

    Sustained lower capital intensity would augur well and could pave the way to a healthier balance sheet as well as return ratios, said Anand Rathi.

  • Buzzing: The share price of PC Jeweller declined 5 percent on November 15 after company’s Q2 consolidated net profit down 51.2% at Rs 46.4 crore versus Rs 95 crore, YoY.
